De Efteling is the Netherlands answer to Disney, investing heavily in fairy tales the park has it’s own magic to it. the routes of Efteling date back to 1933 when the park originally started off as a sports park. In 1950 the park expanded to become a nature park, attracting over 50,000 guests.
In 1952 the park opened Fairytale forest, which still exists to this date. At the time Fairytale Forest opened with 10 stories before later expanding – during this time a swimming pool, cafe-restaurant and a lake for canoeing and rowing was opened. 1978 saw the beginnings of further attractions added to the park, with the addition of Spookslot followed by the arrival of Halve Maen the following year and Pirana in 1983.
