Everyday’s a Celebration – Disneyland Paris 25th Grand Celebration, 1 year on.

Well it feels like such a long time since I did an actual blog post but this is 1 very close to my heart. As some of you may know I attended the Grand Celebration at Disneyland Paris last year, leaving my hotel at 5am to be at the gates in time for a spot right at the front of this iconic, and incredibly special day.

The resort had been in extensive refurbishment as a part of a 10 attraction upgrade plan, as well as this also replacing several pathways and upgrading several key locations including the iconic Fantasia Gardens.

The park looked the best it’d looked in all my visits and with a stunning mixture of entertainment also featured some of the best entertainment of any theme park I’d visited so far. However nothing could prepare myself, or any on the resort for what was to come.

At 8am the park gates opened, and everyone sprinted in to get to their spots, I was fortunate enough to be on the 2nd row from the front on central Plaza facing towards Main Street USA. 9am comes around, the music kicks in, talking both about Walt Disney and the resort. A magical, and tear grabbing moment happens as “For those who come to this happy place, welcome” The iconic speech from Walt Disney at the opening of Disneyland, plays across the park.

The next hour see’s a spectacular tribute to each of the park’s lands, filled with hundreds of characters, including many making their debut at the resort. Starting on Main Street USA, we then see Frontierland, Adventureland, Discoveryland and Fantasyland all performed in a way that can only be described as magical. After this we then see Princess Aurora descend from Sleeping Beauty castle in her own dedicated section of the show – but it isn’t finished there, as soon as this finishes, a special version of it’s a small world/zippity do dah/when you wish upon a star begins, with a huge amount of even more rare characters descending into central plaza. Tricycle’s begin heading up Main Street containing the VIP’s with all the previous show performers lining the edges of the pathways waving them to central plaza.

In what can only be described as an enchantment of colour, central plaza bursts into another vibrant show, with the tricycle’s looping around central plaza in both directions, characters and performers dancing around the inner perimeter. The show finishes on one of the most colourful, and certainly the most impressive finale I’ve ever seen – that has to be seen to be believed.

Following a short speech from Catherine Powell, Everyday’s a celebration blasts across Central Plaza one more time, this time as a live performance, before over 1000 cast members descend onto Main Street USA for a flash mob, and very special photo to celebrate the 25th anniversary.

Throughout the day we also saw 2 very special cavalcades featuring the entire cast from the opening show, special character meets and a very special version of the kiss goodnight, featuring many of the VIP’s in their special April 12th costumes, as well as a slow version of Every Day’s A Celebration to accompany them.

I’d love to think the resort will do something big for the next major celebration which will be DLP30 in 2022, and with the massive re-development of WDS park this seems like already the park is on to yet another celebration, which will be filled with positivity, and many new exciting additions!  Although I do really hope we get a huge scale show once more!
